As there are so many colleges and divisions on the menu, setting some guidelines to assist you during your strategic planning will help provide you with the clarity you need to make in terms of finding your best fit.
Just like business owners do when they are working out a strategic decision you can use facts and numbers as part of your process. Some of the ways you can use facts and numbers to help you get closer to finding the right fit for you include:
1 Finding out the rating or ranking of the college. This can be confusing as there are several ways to find out the rankings, and it does differ between regions, private and public. Usually if the ranking is good the college will be promoting themselves also sifting through the reviews on social media is also a good way to gain insights.
2 Finding out the retention rate of freshmen at the college. Usually you can find a % result, obviously the higher the better as this will indicate that the college is a good place for first time college students.
3 Finding out the graduation % rate over 4 years. You can search for this so you can compare between colleges who has the best success in actually helping students achieve their degree. Once again the higher the better.
4 The retention rate of the Coach, the tennis players on the team and also the broader athletic department. This may be a little harder to find out; however searching about each component can reveal further insights.
Incorporating facts and numbers along with a holistic view will help you get closer to knowing what is best for you.
